The Open House for Pride and Tolerance, HaSoreg 2 (1st floor), Jerusalem

Our tests:

We perform two HIV tests in the clinic: the standard Combo test, and a rapid test

The integrated test is offered for free. The rapid test costs 50₪.

We also offer a syphillis test for an additional 50₪.

* If you had unprotected sex and are worried that you might have been infected, go to any emergency room for preventive treatment (PEP) within 72 hours. For more information: http://www.aidsisrael.org.il/article/pep

Rapid test

The rapid test is performed at the clinic, and results are given orally 20 minutes after the test is administered. The test detects antibodies against HIV in the blood. Results are accurate for any unprotected sex that happened three months prior to the test. That is, if you want to be checked after a particular event that makes you worried, you will have to wait three months from the event before you can do the test.

Combined Test (Combo)

This test is a double ELIZA test that checks for both antibodies and antigens. Blood is drawn from a vein as a regular blood test, then the vial of blood is taken to Hadassah Ein-Kerem Hospital. This test is accurate for any unprotected sex that happened three weeks prior to the test.

The result of this test is given at the clinic one week later. In order to receive the results, return to the clinic during the hours of operation, and present the examination form that you received on your first visit to the clinic. Results cannot be given over the phone, nor will they be given without the examination form.

If you choose to test anonymously, results

are given orally only. For confidential tests where identifying details are provided, results may be given in writing.

Our process - consultation and testing

The process begins with a consultation session with one of our counsellors. During this session we will give you vital information about sexually transmitted infections and how to prevent them. At the end of the consultation meeting you will receive an examination form. Please remember to save this form - we only give results upon presentation of the form!

There are two possible routes for testing:

Confidential - you will provide an identifying document (Israeli ID card, passport, IDF identification, or driver's license) and telephone number. Details will be kept strictly confidential, as per the Patient’s Rights Law (1996). The advantage of this route is that if the result is positive, the process of receiving the test result, validation of the result, and starting treatment is significantly faster. By law, the Ministry of Health must also keep your personal information completely confidential.

Anonymous - You may provide any name you want, even a false one, but must provide a personal phone number (which we will need to verify) so that we can contact you if necessary. According to the Patients' Rights Law (1996) and the Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty (1992), we are prohibited from transferring contact details given to us to the Ministry of Health, except with the express consent of the subject.

Once the consultation is finished, the next step is to draw blood for the relevant tests. In order to do the rapid HIV test, you must do the combined test.

For tests under the age of 18:

If you are 14-18 years old, HIV testing can be done without parental consent. However, until the age of 16, it is possible to do so only through the confidential route, and with the presentation of any identification card. Results will not be sent to the parents or to your Kupat Cholim (health fund). Also, the only possible test in this age range is the combined test.

If you are over the age of 16 - you can be tested through the anonymous route.

An LGBT-friendly family doctor at our Open House!

Our clinic also offers appointments with Dr. Yael Ronen, a specialist in family medicine and an LGBT-friendly doctor!

At this stage, this service is for Clalit Health Services patients only. If you are in a different Kupat Cholim, you can still meet with her for medical advice, but she cannot provide you with referrals, and any prescription will be full price.
